The existing cell sorters in the cell separation market have a common issue of excessive pressure that can compromise cell viability resulting in dead cells. In order to overcome this challenge, NanoCellect has designed an entirely new type of microfluidic cell sorter based on modern flow cytometry methods. By using proven detection technologies, we have been able to focus on innovative cartridge technology (commonly known as a “microfluidic chip”) and accessible, intuitive software that makes the operation simple and safe for researchers and their samples. Our benchtop flow cytometry cell sorter allows for the gentle separation of individual cells and cell types. Sample preparation and sorting cells is easy when using the WOLF in conjunction with our N1 Single Cell Dispenser which utilizes microfluidic channels to transfer and dispense each sorted cell into 96 and 384 multiwell plates.
Flow cytometers and cell isolation products are typically bulky and require a lot of specialized equipment around it. That’s why the WOLF flow cytometry instrument is made compact and stable, enabling placement around the lab and in a hood. The sterile cartridge and tubing set (microfluidic channels) protects target cells during sample preparation from the environment and the researchers from biohazards.

Novel Microchip-Based Cell Sorting Technology
Our sorter uses an on-chip piezoacoustic actuator that gently directs cells into collection channels. Our unique system allows cell analysis (cell size and cell type characterization) and sorting to take place within a disposable microfluidic chip. This eliminates sample-to-sample contamination and biohazard aerosols. An embedded cell sorting verification system gives instant feedback of sorting accuracy.

488nm Laser and 3 Fluorescent Detectors
The WOLF Cell Sorter uses patented, microfluidic cell sorting and laser-based technology capable of detecting different cell types (mammalian and microbial cells). For FACS (or fluorescence activated cell sorting) a sample of fluorescently labeled cells is focused into a microfluidic flow channel.
Forward- and Back-Scatter signals are detected by silicon and PMT detectors, respectively. Fluorophores excited by the blue (488 nm) laser beam emit signals that are spectrally filtered to resolve up to 3 colors simultaneously using high-performance PMTs.
