Applications

See how the WOLF Cell Sorter is used in many application areas including genomic sample preparation, antibody discovery, cell line development, and CRISPR gene editing.

The power of modern and simple cell sorting in many applications.

Genomics

Sample preparation is a significant yet underappreciated step that allows for high quality sequencing and analysis, critical to achieving breakthroughs in medicine, agriculture, and other industries. NanoCellect’s microfluidic cell sorter, the WOLF, allow the cell’s integrity to be maintained for numerous sequencing and multi-omics techniques. The WOLF’s ability to flexibly fit into any genomic researcher’s lab, make it a key step to any cell sequencing analysis workflow.

  • 10x Genomics RNA-seq library prep
  • Single-Cell sorting on PCR plate
  • Whole-genome sequencing methods

Antibody Discovery

The antibody drug discovery process differs from the traditional drug discovery of small molecules as it requires the development of hybridomas and the engineering of antibodies to recognize a specific target protein. The production of recombinant antibodies in cancer treatment as well as the development of neutralizing antibodies for infectious diseases, has allowed antibody discovery platforms to interrogate the immune repertoire and develop novel antibody libraries using flow cytometry analysis and cell sorting. The WOLF cell sorter provides a simple, gently cell sorting solution for many workflows such as:

  • Antibody Discovery from Single Bovine B-Cells
  • Isolate Antibody-Secreting CHO Cells
  • Recombinant protein production in CHO Cells
Genomics

Cell Line Development

Generating cell lines has often been inefficient and affected by inaccurate limited dilution methods or the shear stress caused by conventional flow cytometer and traditional high-pressure cell sorters. NanoCellect Biomedical provides cell sorting solutions that allow to sort cells and establish stable cell lines using gentle low-pressure microfluidics. The WOLF’s ability to protect cell viability after sorting makes it an integral part of any cell line development workflow such as:

  • Recombinant protein production in CHO Cells
  • Sorting stem cell cultures
  • Antibody discovery
Genomics

Gene Editing

Isolating edited-pluripotent stem cells with traditional sorting techniques can subject the cells to rough conditions in which gene expression, genomic stability and overall cell-health can become compromised. Microfluidic cell sorting with the WOLF, along with single cell deposition using the N1 single cell dispenser, eliminates the challenges that pluripotent stem cells face by sorting at gentle pressures without decompression shock and shear stress, and allow for efficient single cell deposition for high monoclonal outgrowth. Gentle Cell Sorting

At <2 psi, the WOLF’s microfluidic channel is gentler than any conventional cell sorter or flow cytometer, allowing for higher populations of healthy, sorted cells with improved cell viability.

Easy to use

There is no need to be a flow cytometry expert in order to use the WOLF. The software interface is intuitive, user-friendly, and simple. There is no fluidics cart, and the optics are fixed – resulting in less complexity, less clean-up, and more time for experiments.

Affordable and inexpensive to maintain

The WOLF doesn’t need a fluidics cart and uses disposable cartridges, so maintenance is simple and economical. Save money on important experiments by using an affordable and approachable cell sorter.

Sterile and disposable

The WOLF utilizes a sterile and disposable cartridge, which makes sorting biohazardous samples safe by not producing any aerosols. Cross-contamination is never an issue, as every cartridge is disposable and allows for a clean sample run, every time.

The WOLF is a technology that enables small companies to do things they could not do before.” “The microfluidics capability is something that I have been excited about. The nature of how the WOLF works is being extremely attractive to us. Some of the experiments we’d like to do in the future could not be done on any other device.

Justin Chartron, Ph.D. Protabit LLC

Neurons are extremely delicate so the selection step should be the least disturbing of all if we want to have reliable results. When we tried the WOLF, we were extremely surprised that our cells were very healthy and viability was above 90%, sometimes above 95% which is very impressive.

Dorota Skowronska-Krawczyk, M.Sc.,Ph.D. University of California Irvine

A great machine that has helped us take our cell-engineering pipeline to the next level!

Ronan O'Connell Rice University

The NanoCellect team and technical specialist have been awesome. After two test runs with very involved training/assistance, we have been very pleased with the results. The equipment is intuitive and the sorts have been very clean.
